When I first started I didn't think enough of my strategy for rebuilding . I focused too much on obtaining results quickly , I was guilty by my desire to see a result as opposed as capturing the right information. As a matter of fact , I got in 2 days the first leg from Ground to first floor , I was happy but I felt it would be a long way to the top of the tower .My design was not parametric . At the end of the first week , I was almost at the second floor when I realized my reference model was wrong by 85 cm .One of the 4 main curves that defines the beauty of the tower was mistakenly input in the system.
I was using my old model , designed in 2005 from not-so-accurate scans. Since my design wasn't totally associative I was stuck and forced to update manually .
A lengthy process, I gave up after 4 h. I had to come up with a technique that will link each individual piece of geometries together so that I will be able to make changes. The Method is presented briefly here: |
